Origin / Popularity: Very popular in north-western India (Punjab, Himachal) due to its early ripening and good color.
Scientific Note: It’s a subtropical plum, so it’s suited to climates where chilling requirement is relatively low.
Fruit:
Size: Medium, average around 25–30 g per fruit.
Shape: Roundish.
Color: Skin turns deep crimson / purple when ripe.
Flesh: Thick-skinned, yellow-orange, firm.
Taste: Sweet; total soluble solids (TSS) ~ 13–14%, acidity ~ 0.6–0.7%.
Use: Good for fresh eating (table) and processing (e.g. jam).
Ripening: Very early variety — typically ripens in first week of May.
Yield: About 35–40 kg/tree (depending on planting system).
